Nashville

We just got home from Nashville with some of our great student's from school. We were there for the National Beta Club Convention, and got to do some sightseeing and have some fun along the way.

This is our third trip to Nashville and the city has honestly changed a lot over the last decade. Join us on our latest podcast, as we discuss this most recent trip, along with our previous trips to Music City. Episode 6 is available anywhere you get your favorite podcast. Check out our photos below as well!!!

New England Cruise

Episode 5 of our Podcast is out and we take a deep dive into a cruise on the Adventure of the Seas. This cruise included stops in Bar Harbor, Maine; St. Johns Bay, and Halifax in Canada.

This was our only experience on the Royal Caribbean and was a fantastic cruise. We are definitely ready to book on Royal Caribbean again. Enjoy the photos below, and be on the look out for our next episode! They are available on all podcast feeds.

Out West

In April of 2021 we were fortunate enough to travel out West, where we got to explore two states: Arizona and California.

In Arizona we flew into Tucson, and rented a car to drive to Tombstone. This was a place that both of us were excited to go because of our love for the movie, and the history of the "Wild West". This was truly an amazing city that allowed you to step back in history and walk the same streets as Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday. In addition to seeing historical landmarks such as the Birdcage Theatre, the Cochise County Courthouse, and the OK Corral we also wandered upon the best pizza we have ever tasted, and overall some of the best food we've came across. This town is an easy visit, and one that is high on our list of places that demand a return visit in the future.

In California we spent days exploring the Bay Area and Wine Country on our way to see the Redwoods. Our first stop was a short cruise around the harbor of San Francisco, that detailed both the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, perhaps America's most infamous prison. The next day we made a long drive to what was perhaps the highlight of our trip. We drove into Northern California to a Redwood patch known as the Avenue of the Giants. This was one of the most astounding places I have ever visited. These Giant Redwoods that you can see in the photos below, are honestly indescribable. Unless you have been there in person, you are not prepared for how amazing these magnificent examples of creation truly are.

Alaskan Cruise

We have just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Spirit. This was truly a bucket-list vacation for us and it definitely met our expectations.

This was a trip we had originally planned for the Summer of 2020, but as you know the world got a little hectic then and most traveling came to a halt. Now, 2 years later we got the chance to make up for lost time.

Our cruise left from Seattle and had stops in Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria (Canada). Each port provided spectacular views as well as a unique perspective. It was one of those trips in which there are no words that could describe the splendor of what the landscape of Alaska provided.

The Tracy Arm Fjord alone was worth the entire trip and the pictures below demonstrate the beauty that is so common in Alaska. In Kentucky we are no stranger to mountains, but the shear size of those in Alaska make for an unfair comparison.

In addition to Alaska and Canada, after we got off the cruise, we had a spare day before we went home. So we drove to St. Helens, Oregon that happened to be where Disney's Halloweentown and the first Twilight were filmed.

So better than go into a long blog post, in which my words would still be inadequate, enjoy the photos below, and check out our videos on YouTube.

More videos and videos are on our Facebook page and more discussion can be found in a 2 part podcast wherever you listen to your favorite podcast.

Bucee's & News

Why don't we start our blog with the talk of the Commonwealth? Kentucky's first Bucee's has opened in Richmond, and it is incredible.

This is in all sincerity unlike any gas station you have ever been to (unless you have traveled through Texas, the birthplace of Bucee's). This company definitely has a reputation that proceeds it, and it lives up to the hype. Home to 120 gas pumps, homemade BBQ and brisket, fudge, jerky, and of course...beaver nuggets. None of this is the run of the mill (and questionable) food we have all come to expect and avoid, in fact much of the food is award winning and made in house.

You may find all of our pictures (including the World's Greatest Restrooms) from Bucee's at our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/kentuckycouple/

Before you go, as we start this journey of discussing our love of traveling, we wanted to go beyond a Facebook page and even this website. So we decided to start a Podcast: The Kentucky Couple Travel Podcast. and we have recorded our first episode over our trip to Bucee's. Remember it's our first time doing anything of this nature (go in with moderate expectations and you won't be disappointed), but we hope it is something that we are able to develop into something you may enjoy and learn from.

Currently we are available on Spotify at:

So please go subscribe and listen. We are working now with Apple, Google, and Amazon to be included in their feeds, and will update you when that is finalized.

Thanks for visiting!!!
